Bob de Jong nous a quitté à l'âge de 71 ans

Met grote droefheid maken wij bekend dat onze algemene directeur
Bob de Jong op 10 Oktober 2013 is overleden aan de gevolgen van
een hartstilstand. Bob werd 71 jaar.
Namens Bob’s familie delen wij het volgende mede:
“Het onverwachte overlijden van Bob is een enorme schok voor
ons. Hij was een markante en bijzondere man, die voor elk
probleem een oplossing wist te bedenken en in zijn veelzijdige
carrière heel veel heeft bereikt. Maar voor ons was
hij bovenal een lieve en zorgzame man, vader en grootvader aan
wie wij met trots en genegenheid zullen terugdenken. Wij
zullen zijn energie, creativiteit en liefde ontzettend missen.”
Bob zal in besloten kring worden begraven. Een
herdenkingsbijeenkomst zal op een later tijdstip plaatsvinden. (Een
beknopte levensloop is bijgevoegd.)
Korte levensloop
Bob de Jong werd in 1942 in Kampen geboren. Hij verwierf
faam als navigator in de rallysport waar hij naast 5 Nederlandse
titels ook internationale successen boekte.
Via Langs de Lijn en Veronica belandde Bob in de media en was hij
vooral bekend als het gezicht van het TV programma De Heilige Koe
in de jaren tachtig. Na een periode als Chef Sport bij de
omroep Veronica startte hij als ondernemer Bob de Jong
Productions. In twee decennia produceerde en presenteerde
hij velerlei programma’s over onder meer sport, auto’s
en ‘western lifestyle’. In die periode wonnen zijn
producties twee maal op het L’Anneau d’Or (Gouden
Ring) TV Festival van Lausanne.
Naast vele, vaak unieke, sport evenementen en theater tournees
organiseerde hij onder meer 12 edities van de Veronica Strandrace
tussen 1981 en 1992. Een ander hoogtepunt was de
Western Experience (een country & western festival) die dit
jaar zijn 18e editie beleefde.
In recente jaren was Bob ook de bedenker en uitvoerder van
velerlei grote en kleine evenementen in Scheveningen, de stad
waar hij veel van zijn jeugd heeft doorgebracht. Zijn
laatste manifestatie was het recente Vliegerfestival Scheveningen.

It is with great sadness that we share the news of the death of
Bob de Jong, our company’s Managing Director. Bob died on 10th
October 2013, aged 71, following a sudden cardiac arrest.
Bob’s family has released the following statement:
“Bob’s unexpected passing has shocked and saddened us. He
was a remarkable and multi-talented man who relished finding
solutions to any challenge he was presented with. His
professional achievements were varied and numerous. Yet to
us, he was foremost a loving and caring husband, father and
grandfather and we will always remember him with great pride and
affection. We will miss him terribly for the energy, love
and inspiration that he gave us all.”

Short biography
Bob was born in Kampen (The Netherlands) in 1942. He
achieved success as a rally co-driver, winning five national
titles as well as international rallying accolades over nearly
two decades.
He soon moved into radio and television. By 1980, he was
host and producer of the long-running weekly TV Show
‘De Heilige Koe’. After a spell as Head of Sports for
Dutch broadcaster Veronica, he founded Bob de Jong Productions. Over
the course of the next two decades Bob produced and presented a
large number of TV shows about sports, cars and Western lifestyle.
During that time, his productions won two l'Anneau d'Or Awards at
the Lausanne TV festival.
Bob organised 12 consecutive editions of the Veronica Beach Race
from 1981 to 1992 with up to 200,000 spectators a time in
attendance, as well as numerous other unique sporting events and
musical theatre tours. A further professional highlight was
the creation of the Western Experience country music festival and
fair, which celebrated its 18th anniversary earlier
this year under Bob’s guiding hand.
In recent years, Bob also took on a role planning and producing
summer season events in the popular coastal resort of
Scheveningen, the most recent of which was the Kite Festival last
month.
